Tuesday, Sen. Justin Ready (R- Carroll) was pleased to receive word that the Board of Public Works approved $45,000 in Program Open Space funding to design and engineer recreational facilities in Westminster Veterans Memorial Park. “”Myself and Delegates Krebs, Rose, and Shoemaker are pleased that Board of Public Works has approved this important funding. These funds are going to engineer this beautiful 32 acre park that honors Carroll County’s veterans and fallen heroes,” said Sen. Ready.
Program Open Space is a program created by DNR in 1969 and uses local funds (collected from local Real Estate Transfer Taxes) to help acquire land to create local recreational areas. The money that is being spent is from this dedicated fund that is only for open space.
“Preserving and protecting open space in a balanced way is an important goal that our Carroll County Delegation shares,” Ready concluded. “This project will be one that benefits our entire community while recognizing the sacrifice our veterans have made throughout the years.
