Annapolis – At noon today Governor Larry Hogan delivered his State of the State address to the Maryland General Assembly. “I am thrilled at the progress Governor Hogan has made in one year – our economy has turned around despite the damage done by the previous administration. Our economy is growing, we’re adding to infrastructure, cutting taxes, Marylanders have reason to optimistic about state government for the first time in years”, said Senator Ready.
Senator Ready continued, “Most importantly, Governor Hogan’s budget also includes tax relief proposals for retirees, small businesses, and working families with lower incomes. It’s a start toward reducing the cost of living and tax burden in our state and continuing to spur job creation”, commented Senator Ready. “I’m thrilled to be working hand-in-hand with the Governor. My priorities have always been to eliminate bad spending practices.”
Last year, for the first time in almost a decade, the citizens of Maryland saw no increases in taxes. In addition, the Governor has eliminated most of a $5 billion structural deficit. Governor Hogan has done a remarkable job this year reducing waste and cutting spending. He promised today to continue this work for the people of Maryland. His straight forward, bi-partisan solutions will set the stage for more tax relief for the people of this great state.
