District Night 2018:
Thank you to all who were able to attend our District Night on last week. We had a tremendous turnout of constituents from Carroll County. I hope everyone who was able to make it down had a great time.

Senator Ready Pushes First Amendment Initiative
One of the most significant problems we face in our country today is the limitation of free speech. Frequently speakers and organizations, mainly conservative leaning, are barred from speaking on college campuses because they are deemed to be “too offensive” or “discriminatory”.
Last Wednesday I introduced legislation that will help protect free speech on college campuses. The bill would force universities to define “discriminatory harassment”. Students will therefore have a clear definition of why the university was limiting their freedom of expression.
Suppression of free speech is anti-American and unacceptable. It is important that colleges are areas where all viewpoints and opinions are head and respected. Expression should flow freely from students without being regulated by college officials.
Senator Ready Submits the Police Protection Act
Attacks on our law enforcement community both locally and around the State need to be dealt with more sternly. Too often, defendants are immediately released back out into the community after charged with this conduct is a danger to the police officers, community, and themselves.
This week I am introducing legislation in my Judicial Proceedings Committee that will prevent court commissioners from releasing a defendant charged with 1st Degree Assault on a police officer, or a 2nd Degree Assault on a law enforcement officer that results in injury.
Our prayers go out to the family of Prince George’s County Police Corporal Mujahid Ramzziddin who was killed last week while helping a neighbor in need. It is important that we protect our law enforcement officials and keep the criminals who pose a threat to our safety in custody.
