Ready Report January 24th
After a slow first two weeks, the pace has definitely picked up in Annapolis. I am beginning to introduce my legislative initiatives to the Senate. Over the next few weeks, my bills will be sent to their respective subject matter committees. I will be sure to keep you up to date with our progress.
Senator Ready OpEd in Carroll County Times:
Last week, the 439th Session of the Maryland General Assembly began in Annapolis. I was honored to take the oath of office to continue serving in the State Senate. In November, I was elected to that office for the first time after serving as an appointee during the previous term. I look forward to working with our District 5 team (including Delegates Krebs, Rose and Shoemaker) and most importantly, being a strong voice for Carroll County residents and our values.

Governor Hogan Submits 2020 Budget
Last week, Governor Hogan submitted his 2020 budget to the General Assembly. For the fifth year in a row, Governor Hogan submitted a balanced and fiscally responsible budget. The 2020 budget builds on the progress we have made over the first four years of the Hogan Administration, funding key priorities like education and healthcare, while easing the tax burden on hardworking Maryland families, retirees, and small businesses.
The Governor has made sure that Carroll County, and other smaller counties are included in capital projects within the budget. I will have an update on those in the weeks to come.
Save the Date: District 5 Night 2019
This year our District 5 Team (myself and Delegates Krebs, Rose & Shoemaker) will be hosting our second District Night in Annapolis. The past two years we have had a great turnout and look forward to it again. Please come out on Monday, February 18th. The District 5 Delegation will be there to discuss the Session and to enjoy great food as well. We'll have more details coming soon but please mark your calendar!
Afterwards, please stay to watch either the Senate or House proceedings from the gallery. To RSVP or receive more information please reach out to my office at 410-841-3683 or Justin.Ready@senate.state.md.us. I hope you can make it!
CVS Minute Clinics
In honor of American Heart Month, CVS will be hosting several a free heart health screening on February 7, 14, 21, or 28, 2019 at the Minute Clinic in the CVS pharmacy at 6040 Sykesville Rd in Eldersburg.
Individuals receiving screenings will learn the five key personal health numbers that can help determine risk for heart disease: total cholesterol, HDL (good) cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index. By participating in a heart health screening, you could make a significant difference in raising awareness about heart disease and make an impact on the health and future of someone’s life.
