This update contains information for tomorrow evening’s Fall Family event, a tougher drunk driving law which took effect October 1, a traffic alert for an October 5th parade, a meeting about repairs to the bridge at Little Pipe Creek (MD 194), and the 50th Annual Carroll County Farm Museum Fall Harvest Days.
Ready Annual Fall Family Fundraiser - Last Call:
Tomorrow evening is our annual Ready Fall Family fundraiser, taking place at Greenmount Station in Hampstead. The time of the event is 6:30-8:30. Maryland Gets Tougher on Drinking and Driving
All bills passed by the General Assembly become law when signed by the Governor, and unless otherwise noted in the bill, become effective on October 1 of the same year. A number of new road laws will be going into effect this year. Noah’s Law, or the Drunk Driving Reduction Act of 2016 will require drivers to participate in the state Ignition Interlock Program if they are found driving under the influence, driving while impaired while transporting a minor, or killing or inflicting a life-threatening injury on anyone while driving under the influence.
On Wednesday, October 5th, Westminster High School will be hosting a Homecoming Parade starting at 6 p.m. The parade will be begin at Friendship Valley Elementary School, turn left on Gist Road and proceed to Hood Road. Parade will then turn right on Canon Way and proceed to Washington Lane. After crossing over Washington Road (Route 32) it will end at Westminster High School.
MD 194 over Little Pipe Creek/Bridge Deck Replacement
On Thursday, October 27th, the Maryland Department of Transportation will hold an informational meeting to acquaint the public with plans to replace the bridge deck of Little Pipe Creek Bridge. The road is expected to be closed in the summer of 2017 for approximately 10 weeks. The meeting will be held at New Midway Elementary school from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be no formal presentation.
Fall Harvest Days at the Carroll County Farm Museum
Carroll County Farm Museum will host the 50th Anniversary of their Fall Harvest Days celebration. Admission is free. October 15th, 10 am to 5 pm & 16, 11 am to 5 pm. Parade is Saturday morning at 9 A.M. Activities include car show (Saturday), artisan demonstration, children’s costume contest (Sunday), make your own scarecrow ($), pumpkin painting, delicious food ($), live entertainment, children’s crafts, corn cannon ($), tractor rides and more.
