Senator Ready Reaction To Governor Hogan’s State of the State Address
Annapolis: On Wednesday, Governor Larry Hogan delivered his fifth annual State of the State Address. Governor Hogan emphasized the progress Maryland has made over his tenure as Governor. Senator Justin Ready (R- District 5) was in attendance for the Governor’s Address. “I'm pleased that Governor Hogan emphasized the need for real, lasting tax relief," said Senator Ready. "He's rolled out eight legislative proposals that I'm proud to co-sponsor that would provide half a billion dollars in tax reductions on small businesses, working families, individuals and retirees."
"In addition, Governor Hogan shares mine and the Carroll County Delegation's deep concern about the epidemic of violent crime in and around Baltimore City as well as the gang and drug activity that fuels it," Ready continued. “Fighting this crime epidemic will take more than just more police officers and law enforcement personnel, it requires prosecutors and judges who are willing to put these repeat violent offenders in jail for long periods of time," said Senator Ready. “I look forward to working with Governor Hogan to enact bills that ensures minimum sentences for those who commit multiple gun crimes and give greater transparency to the public into how judges are ruling in these cases.”
Senator Justin Ready represents Legislative District 5 - Carroll County in the State Senate. Ready is a member of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and has sponsored a number of pro-law enforcement bills as well as legislation to increase penalties on those who commit violent crimes while supporting treatment alternatives to prison for non-violent drug offenders. Ready also has championed tax relief for working families and businesses throughout his time in the General Assembly.
