Ready Report: Fighting Moore on 287G, Hearings on Emissions & Historic Tag Bills + DDA Advocacy Day
The sixth week of the 90-day 2026 Legislative Session in Annapolis has concluded. We’ve had a lot of wide-ranging issues we’ve been addressing and I’ve had a number of bill hearings. To watch my weekly video update, click the picture below.
ICYMI: Last week, Senate Minority Leader Steve Hershey offered the Republican rebuttal to the Governor’s State of the State speech, which you can watch by clicking here.
Ready in the Press
Earlier this week, Governor Moore signed SB 245 which seeks to prohibit local law enforcement from entering an “immigration enforcement agreement” (287g) with the federal government. When this bill was on the Senate floor, I offered a lengthy floor speech on the subject on Wednesday arguing against SB 245 which you can watch by clicking here.
Additionally, I was on Fox45 Morning News on Tuesday talking about the Governor’s reckless actions to sign this bill, which you can watch by clicking here.
Finally, the Washington Informer also covered the reaction, including mine, to Governor Moore’s and the General Assembly’s attack on local law enforcement cooperation with federal authorities to deport dangerous illegally present people. You can read that story by clicking here.
DDA Day in Annapolis

On Wednesday, countless advocates for the Developmentally Disabled Community came to Annapolis to advocate for the care and services that the community needs. I met with several constituents and their families who rely on the Developmental Disability Administration’s funding for their loved ones’ care. It is extremely important to me that Maryland takes care of our most vulnerable friends and loved ones.
I was also quoted by Fox 45 and the Baltimore Sun regarding the Governor’s proposed budget cuts to the Developmental Disability Administration, which you can read by clicking here.
