Carroll County Delegation Secures Funding for Key Local Priorities in State Capital Budget

Annapolis: The Maryland General Assembly voted to enact the FY2026 Capital Budget which, is separate from the Operating Budget, using largely state bonding authority to fund infrastructure, school construction and key physical plant projects throughout Maryland. The Carroll County Delegation worked in a bi-partisan fashion in the General Assembly to secure key funding for a series of important community projects ranging from public safety infrastructure, to helping veterans, supporting developmentally disabled to assisting local towns. Below are highlights of what the Delegation was able to secure:
- ARC of Carroll County – $150,000
- Carroll County Veterans Independence Project – $50,000
- Eldersburg Elementary School Playground – $25,000
- Mount Airy Flat Iron Building – $245,500
- Mount Airy Police Station – $100,000
- Union Bridge Fire Company – $70,000
- Union Bridge Memorial VFW – $50,000
- The City of Westminster’s Broadband Infrastructure – $1,000,000
“The resources we were able to bring back home for these important local projects is a product of outstanding teamwork and communication between our delegation and legislators on the Budget Committees in both parties,” said Senator Justin Ready. “I am glad that we were able to work together to ensure that some of these key needs in Carroll County as well as the District 5 portion of Frederick County were addressed.”
“I am proud of the work that Carroll’s Delegation was able to accomplish throughout this legislative session to secure funding for organizations and causes that truly represent the values of our constituents in both Carroll and Frederick Counties,” said Delegate Chris Tomlinson. “Our friends & neighbors are overwhelmingly supportive of law enforcement, veterans, public education, and volunteer firefighters & EMS professionals, and these projects will ensure that these organizations, entities, & individuals are able to continue serving our community for years to come.”
The Carroll County Delegation includes Senator Justin Ready, Delegate Eric Bouchat, Delegate April Rose and Delegate Chris Tomlinson representing District 5 and Senator Chris West and Delegate Josh Stonko representing District 42C.
The 2025 Maryland General Assembly Session concluded at midnight, Monday, April 7th.
