With all of the divisiveness in our country, during this holiday season, I am focusing on how truly blessed we are to be Americans. I am especially thankful for the brave men and women who serve in the military. While we celebrate this holy day with friends and family this week, they are spread across the globe, so that we can enjoy peace and freedom like no other country in the world. My wife Ruth, my children Brooklyn and Caleb, and I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas
Governor Hogan Announces Homelessness Prevention Award for Carroll County
Last week, Governor Hogan today announced an $800,000 grant to Family and Children’s Services of Central Maryland in Carroll County through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Development Block Grant program. Family and Children’s Services of Central Maryland (Carroll County): will use the funds to construct a 10,000-square-foot addition onto a building in Westminster, which will include a shelter for victims of elder abuse and domestic violence and offices for case management, counseling, and operations. Many thanks to the Governor and his administration for their continued work to ensure the safety and security of our most vulnerable citizens. Earlier this year, Governor Hogan announced that overall homelessness has been reduced by more than 9% since 2017, and the number of chronically homeless individuals dropped by nearly 15% and veterans experiencing homelessness declined by nearly 9%.
