New Year’s Resolutions for Maryland

I want to wish you and your family a Happy New Year. As we launch into 2025, we all probably
have some of those “New Year’s Resolutions” – goals that we set to improve ourselves, help our
family and…let’s be honestchange bad or unhealthy habits.

Well, Maryland’s State Government has fallen into bad habits again. So I have three New Year’s
Resolutions for Maryland’s government and I’ll be fighting for them in the 2025 Legislative
Session:

1. In Governor Wes Moore’s first two years we’ve had 330+ tax and fee increases and even
with all that, we’ve gone from a $5 Billion budget surplus to a $3 Billion deficit!

Annapolis liberals say that we have no choice but to raise taxes to fix THEIR overspending. I
say NO. Maryland State Government needs to go on a DIET, lose “weight” by cutting down the
size of government instead of going after taxpayers AGAIN.

2. Meanwhile Maryland’s ridiculous approach to energy policy – trying to phase out all coal and
natural gas and relying totally on wind and solar (heavily subsidized by you the ratepayer) for new power generation – has led to a lack of energy, surging costs AND the MPRP threat that we
are fighting to turn back.

They even are pushing a Maryland “Green New Deal” – I call it the “Green Raw Deal” that
would raise taxes by over $1 Billion annually. We need to turn in the opposite direction and
return to natural gas, clean coal and new nuclear generation to GAIN energy– and STOP
MPRP.

3. Finally, all of us want to do better every year in protecting and supporting our family and
loved ones. Maryland has a juvenile crime crisis that is hurting every region of our state.
Maryland’s liberal establishment from Wes Moore to DJS Secretary Schiraldi to the ACLU and
other radical groups make excuses for juvenile criminals – the time has come to repeal laws like
the Juvenile Justice “Reform” Act and go back to actual consequences for teenage offenders. We
also have an out-of-control illegal immigration problem in our state and several local
jurisdictions aren’t working with ICE to deport criminals. That MUST change.

I know you agree with me that Maryland’s government needs dramatic change and reform.

You can count on me to keep fighting for common sense, conservative policies that will help all
of us.

Happy New Year to you and your family – despite the concerns about Maryland that I’ve shared
above, the future is getting brighter – especially if we return to common sense, conservative
principles in our government.

Thank you for the honor of serving you in the State Senate. Please feel free to reply with ideas
about changing and improving our state or any concerns.
