With all the terrible stories in the news lately, it’s good to take some time to focus on what we are thankful for. God has truly blessed us to live in the most free and prosperous nation in the world. May God Bless you and your family this Thanksgiving Weekend.

Hogan Announces Military Veterans to Receive Free Admission to Maryland State Parks
In the spirit of Veterans Day last Saturday and a special focus on veteran appreciation in November, Governor Hogan announced all Vets will receive free access to the 72 state parks in Maryland. There are over 414,000 Vets that live in the State of Maryland who will benefit from this program. We are indebted to your service, and proud to show our support in any way that we can.
State Grant Funding to Enhance Carroll Parks Secured:
Last week, during the State Board of Public Works Meeting, the Board - which includes Governor Hogan, Comptroller Franchot and the State Treasurer Nancy Kopp – approved two significant projects that will benefit Carroll County. They were requests made by the State Department of Natural Resources:
Bark Hill Park: Union Bridge: $100,000: to construct park improvements including purchasing and installing two single-table pavilions and playground equipment, construct a new ADA-accessible path, and pave the stone parking lot;
Deer Park:Westminster: $854,000: to develop a recently-acquired 18.85 parcel that adjoins the Park. The project includes constructing two athletic fields, installing field goals and bleachers, extending the trail and park road, and constructing parking lots
Manchester Area Merchants Association Old Fashion Christmas & Holiday Open House
On Friday, November 24th, the M.A.M.A will be hosting an Old Fashion Christmas & Holiday Open House. The event will include dozens of local vendors showing off their goods and services. Much of the attention on Black Friday is directed towards large chain retail establishments, but it is important that we support our local businesses and restaurants as well. The event will be held on Main Street and within the Manchester Activity Building from 4-8pm.
