Ready Report: 2024 Session Begins, Carroll Delegation Meeting Announcement & More…

The Maryland General Assembly legislative session began on Wednesday at 12pm. Last year at this time, all members were being sworn into their respective offices as many representatives were new following an election year. However, this year the work will be underway much quicker, and there are several key issues that will be discussed and worked on. You can watch my weekly video by clicking here where I talk about some of these key issues.

An informational public meeting will take place on Thursday, January 18 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the North Carroll Senior and Community Center, 2328 Hanover Pike Hampstead, MD 21074. Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) Informational Webinar

For small businesses – starting January 1st, the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) requires more than 32 million businesses to report information about their business and business owners to a new federal database maintained by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This was a FEDERAL law passed by congress last year and has nothing to do with the Maryland General Assembly.

Almost all small businesses will have new obligations under the law. More information about what small businesses should know before reporting can be found by clicking here.  To help clarify the requirements of the law, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is hosting a special webinar on January 17th. You can register for the webinar by clicking here.
