Ready Report: Campaign Announcement, Lots of State News & July 4th Traffic Info

It was a HOT week weather-wise, I hope your family have been staying cool. We’ve had a lot of news breaking this week and I’ve been asked to comment on a lot of it in the press – I and Delegates Rose & Tomlinson also made a major election announcement this week too – see below:

With Strong, Conservative Record, District 5 Legislators File for Re-Election

Earlier this week, myself, Delegate April Rose, and Delegate Chris Tomlinson announced that we have filed to run for re-election and will be campaigning together as a team. For the past three years, we have fought for conservative principles in Annapolis. Although we are up against a super majority, there have been several victories from our team, including securing key funding for capital projects throughout the county. We will be putting more information about our platform in the coming months, but for now you can read the full press release by clicking here.

Ready in the Press

FOX 45 – Governor Moore’s “Growing Economy” – Earlier this week, a Super PAC run by the Democratic Governor’s Association – supporting Governor Moore – launched TV ads claiming that Maryland’s economy is growing, the deficit is gone and that he’s cut taxes. This comes only shortly after $1.67 Billion in new taxes and fees that Marylanders are now on the hook for. I was interviewed by Fox 45 about the obvious lies in the ad. Read/watch more by clicking here.

Baltimore Sun – $400 Million Promised to “Just” Communities – On Juneteenth, Governor Moore announced he was directing $400 million in existing state grant funds to communities that met a designation of “Just Communities” – meaning historically “disadvantaged” – largely aimed at race-based categories. Republicans are standing together to oppose this proposal. I do not believe that we can solve decade-long injustices by created new injustices today. Read more by clicking here.

Maryland Senate Republicans React to Moore Hiring Freeze Announcement:

Senate Republicans responded to the Moore Administration’s newly announced hiring freeze, voluntary employee buyout program, and plans to eliminate more than 150 vacant state positions—measures that closely reflect proposals GOP lawmakers put forward earlier this year.

“Let’s be honest: this is Moore Admin quietly admitting that we’re right,” -Sen. Ready. “They won’t say it out loud, but everything announced—hiring freeze, eliminating vacancies, trimming payroll— is exactly what we proposed months ago. They can’t deny fiscal reality any longer”
