Ready Report: Candidate Spotlight, Early Voting Coming & Help for Carroll Community…
I wanted to share with you some reminders and candidate spotlights about the coming election – it is so important that you go vote for change in Maryland, supporting our Republican team as we try to bring balance back to the state. Early Voting starts one week from today on October 22nd, runs through October 29th and then Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. Please go vote! More below…also have an update on state funds our Carroll Delegation secured for Carroll Community College that have now been officially allocated.
Candidate Spotlight
One of the most important offices on your ballot, and yet one that gets little attention sometimes, is our Board of Education. These are non-partisan offices on your ballot, meaning it doesn’t say “Republican” or “Democrat” or other parties. However, there are clear differences and choices. In Carroll County, we will be electing three members of our five member Board of Ed- and I am supporting Cleveland Friday, Marsha Herbert and Shannon Hinkhaus who will do a great job standing up for taxpayers, protecting parents’ rights and working to ensure that resources stay focused on the classroom, students and teachers, not eaten up in bureaucracy. I’d encourage you to click on their names to visit their websites to learn more.
I also represent a small portion of Frederick County and know we have many folks on this email list from there. I support the “Orange Ballot” candidates there for the four spots up on the Frederick County Board of Ed, Heather Fletcher, Shelley Potter, Geoff Seidel and Tyler Walker. Electing these seven candidates between Carroll and Frederick would have a strong impact on protecting students, keeping schools focused on academics and results and they are people who won’t advocate for raising taxes either.
ICYMI: Vote AGAINST Question 3
I recently wrote a letter in the Baltimore Sun and Carroll County Times highlighting the importance of voting against Ballot Question #3 on the ballot in November. This is something that should have the careful consideration of every Marylander as it would change the political landscape of our state long-term, only strengthening the already super-majority party’s numbers.
You can read the full letter by clicking here. Please join me in voting against Ballot Question #3 in next month’s election.

State Funds Secured by Delegation are Officially Approved for Carroll County
On Wednesday, October 7th, the Maryland Board of Public Works considered and approved $1,905,000 to replace building systems and a building envelope on the main campus of Carroll Community College. These systems include heating and cooling equipment, the fire alarm system, and the building envelope of Building A. These replacements will address deferred maintenance issues, improve student comfort, and reduce operating costs. Ultimately, these repairs will result in increased life-safety protection, additional expansion capability, uniform communication and alarms, improved maintenance and troubleshooting, and more reliable systems.
The Carroll County Delegation, working alongside Carroll Community College, were responsible for securing this key funding through the Capital Budget process during the 2026 Legislative Session.
