Ready Report: Early Voting This Week, Trump Bringing Coal Back to MD & More…
I hope you and your family enjoy the beautiful early summer weather. Stay safe! We’ll start with a couple of campaign updates –
Ready Business Breakfast Fundraiser – Tuesday – June 16th:
One of the main ways to really change Maryland long term is to compete and win at multiple levels from General Assembly to federal offices and Governor to local school board races. I am facing a challenge myself locally in the general election.
To that end, I’m reaching out to invite you to my June 16th Annual Breakfast fundraiser at Greenmount Station in Hampstead. Tickets are $75 and there are also sponsorships available all by clicking here. Or, if you cannot attend but want to support our campaign, please click here to make a contribution. Whether you can give $75 or $100 or even $20 or $40 – it all helps!
This is our biggest event of the year and is always a great opportunity to connect. This year it is taking place exactly one week from Primary Election Day – June 23rd. I will be discussing the outcome of the 2026 Legislative Session and talking about what’s at stake in the primary and in November. I hope you can join us – or make a contribution to help the campaign – your support is really appreciated – thank you.
Early Voting Begins This Week
Early voting for the primary election begins this Thursday, June 11th and concludes on Thursday June 18th. Early voting centers are open daily from 7am to 8pm. Early voting centers for Carroll County include the Westminster Senior Center, South Carroll Senior Center and Charles Carroll Community Center. You can find more information on the Carroll County Board of Elections website by clicking here.
As we approach the Republican primary, in case you missed it, I spotlighted two candidates the last two weeks that Delegate Rose, Delegate Tomlinson and I are supporting who are in very close races.
Adam Wood for State Senate in District 42 – including Hampstead, Finksburg and parts of the Westminster and Manchester zip codes outside of the town limits. Read more about Adam from my previous email by clicking here. If you want to help Adam’s campaign, visit AdamWoodforMaryland.com. Not sure what district you live in? Visit MDElect.net and enter your address to confirm.
Allan Culver for State’s Attorney – you can read my breakdown and support from previous email here. This is a crucial decision for Carroll County. To help Allan’s campaign, visit CulverforCarroll.com.
Trump Administration Restoring Reliable Energy for Maryland
Earlier this week, we received great news that, under direction of President Trump, the federal government is directing $85 million in Federal Defense Production Act funding to restart the AES Warrior Run coal-fired power plant in Cumberland, MD. This is a meaningful step toward addressing Maryland’s energy supply crisis. The Senate Republican Caucus released the following press release with more details:

The 2026 program will begin on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16, 2026, and end on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2026. Learn more and find the list of participating museums at arts.gov/BlueStarMuseums.
ICYMI: 2026 Candidate Profile from the Carroll Community Media Center
As the election season has really ramped up following the conclusion of the Legislative Session, one unique opportunity the Carroll Community Media Center offers candidates is to record a 5-minute candidate profile accessible to the public. All filed candidates are contacted following the filing-deadline and given this opportunity.
Earlier this month I was happy to record my candidate profile for this election cycle, where I discuss the accomplishments we have made together, as well as the vision moving forward. You can watch the full video by clicking here.
It is an honor to represent you in the Maryland Senate. As always, feel free to reach out to my office anytime with questions or concerns. Please be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X for the most up-to-date information.
