Ready Report: Early Voting Thursday, MPRP Update & Calling for DJS Secretary Removal

Last week, I sent an email with my official endorsements for the 2024 Election. If you missed it, you can click the link below to see my full breakdown, including my thoughts on Question 1 and support for Greg Malveaux and Kristin Zihmer for Carroll County Board of Education. I wanted to follow up to share conservative, fiscally responsible choices for the Frederick County Board of Education for those who live there. Voters will be voting for three spots on the board.  I’d encourage you to support Colt Black and Jamie Brennan, and writing in Heather Fletcher for Frederick County Board of Education.

MRPR Update – PSEG Announces their Proposed Route – Next Stop is PSC

Late last week, PSEG announced their proposed route for the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project (MPRP) – the 70-mile transmission line that will tear through Baltimore, Carroll, & Frederick Counties. As expected, the route is unacceptable to those of us who call this area home. It would destroy farmland, wetlands, woodland, and potentially could take a lot of personal, private property. A series of public information sessions will be held in November where the public can learn more about the project and offer comments to the project team. Please see the pic below for dates.

Our entire Carroll County Delegation – including me – and our Board of County Commissioners continue to oppose the project and we will continue to do everything we can to stop the project. Frederick County’s Delegation (which I’m also a member of) and the Frederick County Council and County Executive have also weighed in with their opposition, including letters to the Public Service Commission outlining serious concerns and questions.

Our Carroll Delegation is taking additional steps this week to push statewide officials and Governor Moore to take a stand, and we are continuing to work on legislation to address the underlying issue that PJM and the utility say are the cause of this – which is Maryland’s lack of energy production due to not replacing aging power plants. I will have more on all of this in the future.

Ready in the Press

Last week, I interviewed with Fox 45 on the need for Secretary Schiraldi to resign or be fired at Department of Juvenile Services – the latest incident of 17 year old – already accused attempted murder – then arrested a month ago in a stolen car – now arrested on murder charge found WITH A GUN at Howard High School is outrageous. He would not have been out in the community without DJS recommending that he be to a judge. This is the last straw. Watch the full interview by clicking here.

I also discussed this with Torrey Snow from WBAL Radio, which you can watch by clicking here.

Again, early voting starts this Thursday – I hope you will make time to vote during the 8 days of early voting or on Election Day. Have a great week ahead and please reach out with any questions.
