Ready Report: Letter to President on MPRP, Concerns on EV School Bus Costs & More…

Thank you to everyone who attended my 2026 Campaign Kickoff and our Annual Fall Family fundraiser at Island Green in Westminster. What an amazing turnout and great support from so many people in our community. The weather was beautiful, and the kids there had a lot of fun too. Again, I am honored to have the chance to serve District 5 in the State Senate, thank you again for all the support – on to 2026!

Delegation Letter to President Trump on MPRP

Our Carroll County Delegation – including myself – has joined with Carroll County Board of Commissioners to send the below letter to President Trump asking for his and his administration’s assistance and influence to stop the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project (MPRP) from moving forward.

Among the key points from the letter was this particular section – “We were ecstatic to see your administration weigh in on the battle between the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the property owners of Cheatham County, TN over the location of a proposed power plant on 280 acres of rural land. After years of debate, the TVA decided this summer to seek another location once your Secretary of Agriculture weighed in. Carroll County landowners find themselves in a similar David vs. Goliath struggle where everyday farmers are fighting for their livelihoods against a multi-billion dollar publicly traded company (PSEG).”

As we have from the beginning, our local officials in all three affected counties – from both parties – are standing united opposing this “extension cord” being run across 70 miles of farmland to feed power to Northern Virginia. Our Carroll County Commissioners and our Delegation will continue to pursue every avenue to protect the livelihood and legacy of our communities.

Electric School Buses Expand Across Maryland Despite Cost Worries

Throughout the past several legislative sessions, the Democrat super-majority has made it their mission to accomplish the un-realistic goal of achieving net-zero carbon emission by 2045. Part of this plan is to implement electric school buses across Maryland, costing taxpayers millions and accomplishing very little in return. These grants would much better serve the people of Maryland elsewhere, including in other environmental goals. To read more about this, click here to pull up a Baltimore Sun article where I am quoted.

National Drug Takeback Day

This Saturday, October 25, is the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a biannual event offering Maryland residents the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications.

In addition to local law enforcement agencies collecting medicines, MyOldMeds.com offers an easy-to-use locator tool that connects residents to the 514 year-round disposal sites across the state. We also offer a Maryland resource page that provides guidance on safely managing medications in your household.

Remembering Delegate Charles Otto

Earlier this week, Delegate Charles Otto passed away at the age of 60, after serving as a Maryland Delegate for 14 years. Delegate Otto was a good man who served as a champion for the Eastern Shore. He had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace, Delegate Otto.

It is an honor to represent you in the Maryland Senate. As always, feel free to reach out to my office anytime with questions or concerns. Please be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X for the most up-to-date information.
