Ready Report: MD Facing Budget Deficit – Our Government Needs a Diet
This week there has been extensive reporting on the budget deficit our state is facing for next year that has grown to nearly $3 Billion because of lower-than-expected tax revenues and a stagnant economy plus an additional accounting error by the Department of Health. Of course the same old liberal, left-wing groups and politicians are pretending to be sad and throwing up their hands to say we need to raise taxes. No – we need to put Maryland’s state government on a diet and make long-term changes to projected spending and programs. Ready in the Press: WBAL TV 11 covered the state’s budget problem with a very good segment that also featured clips with the House of Delegates Republican Leader Jason Buckel and me. You can watch that here: https://www.wbaltv.com/article/republicans-democrats-solutions-marylands-3-million-deficit/63218834 Fox 45 did an entire “Spotlight On Maryland” feature on why Maryland is facing budget deficits when none of our neighbors are AND have lower tax rates. I was interviewed in this segment as well. It’s an interesting watch – bottom line is that we need Maryland state government to go on a diet, NOT keep raising taxes and the cost of living for families and businesses: https://foxbaltimore.com/news/local/maryland-struggles-with-budget-deficit-while-neighbors-thrive-wes-moore-generla-assembly-session-virginia-west-virginia-pennsylvania-money-finance-delaware# ATTN: MPRP Impacted Landowners – Survey Opportunity: Stop MPRP, Inc. has created a survey to be filled out by those impacted by the MPRP project.
