Ready Report: Memorial Day, Candidate Spotlight & Republicans Demand Answers on Ballot Screwup

I hope you and your family enjoy this upcoming long weekend. I am extremely grateful to those who serve in our military but especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We can never repay the debt we owe to the men and women who have laid down their lives for us and our freedoms. Memorial Day should always occupy a special place in our hearts and our lives.

Candidate Spotlight: Allan Culver for State’s Attorney –

As we close in on just one month to go until the June 23rd Republican primary (and 2.5 weeks until the start of early voting, June 11th-18th), I wanted to be sure to call your attention to a critically important race that impacts our every day life and community in Carroll County – the office of State’s Attorney. The title implies that it’s for the state but really it’s the position of Lead Prosecutor representing the people of Carroll County against all those charged with criminal actions. Our current State’s Attorney, my friend Haven Shoemaker is retiring so this is an open seat.

I would respectfully ask you to join me in supporting Allan Culver for this incredibly important position – Carroll County State’s Attorney.

Allan has served for 24 years as a prosecutor in Carroll County, trying cases for everything from traffic offenses to murder, culminating in his current role as Special Counsel to the State’s Attorney where he plays a critical role in maintaining law and order. Allan is fully committed to continuing his longstanding work with Carroll County law enforcement to prosecute criminals, get them off the street, and keep our county safe. He’s also worked directly with both law enforcement officials and our medical and recovery community to better educate our youth about the danger of heroin/opioids and to get help for those suffering with addiction while cracking down on drug dealers and traffickers.

Carroll County is the safest county in Maryland – with crime dropping significantly the past several years – and Allan’s work ethic, experience, skill, and dedication are key to that illustrious and coveted distinction. We need to keep it that way. I know Allan will continue his and State’s Attorney Shoemaker’s success. I hope you will join me in voting for Allan Culver for State’s Attorney.

Senate Republicans Demand Answers on Maryland Ballot Error

Maryland voters deserve clarity — not confusion. A vendor error sent some Marylanders the wrong party’s mail-in ballot ahead of the June 23 primary. Senate Republicans released the following statement demanding answers about this major error.

I’m honored to have received the endorsement of the Maryland Farm Bureau for the 2026 Election. Our farmers, agricultural producers and agritourism businesses are the lifeblood of Carroll County, Frederick County and all of Maryland. Standing up for them from Annapolis overreach and protecting our farmland and open spaces from corporate eminent domain are top priorities for me and will continue to be. Carroll County Farm Museum Free for Military Personnel and their Family

Carroll County Government has announced that the Carroll County Farm Museum will join museums nationwide in the 2026 Blue Star Museums initiative, a program that provides free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families this summer. The 2026 program will begin on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16, 2026, and end on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2026.
