Ready Report: Remembering 9/11, MPRP Update, Upcoming Event & More…

It was 24 years ago today that many of our lives were forever changed. The evil attack on America meant that 2,977 people didn’t come home on that crisp and sunny early Fall day – September 11, 2001. In the years and war that followed so many more lost their lives or were disabled as a result of combing through wreckage to find, rescue, or recover those in the rubble and then those that gave their lives and sacred honor in hunting down and fighting our enemies. I will never forget where I was when the news came nor the way this entire period made me feel about the blessing of America and the responsibility we must stand up for our freedoms.

Sadly I believe too many in our public life and culture have moved beyond really marking this occasion and remembering it but that’s why we must double our efforts to pass this lesson of America’s greatness but also the need for awareness on to the generations that are now coming up and may we never forget the sacrifice of so many that day and in the years that followed. May God continue to bless America.

Carroll Delegation Letter to Public Service Commission on MPRP Hearing Schedule

The Carroll County Delegation recently sent the letter below to the Public Service Commission (PSC) in support of the staff recommended timeline (along with some suggested amendments) as it relates to their review of the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project’s (MPRP) Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) application. It is vital that this process get everyone’s input and come to the actual impacted communities not just be in Baltimore – and the PSC’s recommended timeline promises to do that. PSEG would like to move much faster and we reject that. This schedule will make the process more transparent, and it will not be rushed.

Maryland Retailers Alliance All-Star Team

I was honored to be named a “Legislative All Star” again this year by Maryland Retailers Alliance for my pro-small business voting record and committee/amendment work in the Senate Finance Committee, where all proposed business regulatory legislation is assigned. Supporting retail commerce – in particular retailers who are our small and independent job creators – is something I take very seriously, and I appreciate the Maryland Retailers Alliance for their work in making sure these important voices are heard before the General Assembly.
