Ready Report: Route 140 Follow-Up, MSDE Changes & Upcoming Events

It’s been a busy week and there is more coming up in District 5 and around the state. Below are some items I wanted to be sure you saw from the past several days and give you a heads up about upcoming events.

Update on MD 140 and MD 91 Intersection Improvement Project

The Carroll County Delegation sent the following letter to the Maryland Highway Administration relating to their plans to add a jughandle turn to the intersection of MD 140 and MD 91. This project would affect drivers heading north on MD 140 who wish to turn west onto MD 91.

Ready in the Community

On Thursday morning I had a great tour of the Home Depot in Eldersburg. The company has been reaching out to state legislators in their districts so they can see how the stores operate internally, the work they do in the community and also the challenges they face with the growing problem of organized retail theft that has been rising in the entire country. It was so nice to meet and help honor some of their great, hard-working employees. The store manager Shantel told me she started as a cashier over 15 years ago and worked her way up. Thanks to the Eldersburg Home Depot team for having me today and even customizing an apron for me!

Maryland Superintendent Mohammad Choudhury Steps Down

Last week, Maryland Superintendent Mohammad Choudhury announced that he will not pursue a contract extension for a second term. The Republican Senate Caucus released the following statement regarding this decision:
