Ready Report: Supporting Israel, Rt 97 Public Meeting & More…

I hope that you and your family are enjoying the fall weather.  Thank you to everyone who attended and/or contributed to my Fall Family Fundraiser last week. We had a great time and incredible weather for this annual event. Below, please find the latest news and updates.

First, I hope you’ll join me and my family in praying for Israel and the entire situation in the region – I put out the following statement in response to the evil we saw last weekend. My heart breaks for the victims of this terrible attack on our ally but their resolve is firm and ours must be as well:

Ready in the Press – Crime

Last week, I was interviewed on WMAR-TV (Baltimore) about the need for real, hard jail time for repeat violent offenders and questioning how a convicted rapist and attempted murderer could have been given just 14 years to begin with. Senate Republicans have been fighting for action on repeat violent criminals for several years, but our calls for action have been rejected by the Democrat supermajority. You can watch this full interview by clicking here.

Ready in the Community – BWI Visit

Last week, the Senate Finance Committee – which is the committee I serve on – had an on-site committee briefing and tour of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). All legislation dealing with our two state-owned airports (BWI & Martin State Airport) comes to the Finance Committee so I was glad to be able to get a first hand look at the things they are working on as well as their planned renovations of baggage processing and other modernization of the airport. It’s a big driver of jobs, tourism, and economic development for our state. Also, it was great to meet a constituent from Mt. Airy who is one of the airport’s operations leaders.
