Ready Report August 13th

We're in the dog days of August - the return to school for students is just around the corner - but there's a lot going on locally and around the state.

First, some information about the impact of the recent heavy rain and storms we've had in our region:

Road Closure Information:

Carroll County has been pelted by record breaking rainfall this month and it caused dangerous flooding of a number of roads on private property. Fortunately most roads have been re-opened but I've attached the link to the updated listing of closure below. I want to thank Carroll County’s road crews, first responders and Maryland Emergency Management Agency for all they are doing to help our neighbors and keep people safe.

There may be more rain this week so, please be safe!

Sales Tax Free Shopping THIS Week in Maryland:

Maryland's annual "tax free" week of shopping - sales tax free - started Sunday and runs through this Saturday, August 18th. Apparel and shoes under $100 are exempted from sales tax. For more details, you can visit the Maryland Comptroller's Tax-Free Week page by clicking here. Hopefully it helps with that back to school shopping! (And, yes, sales tax should be less overall!)

Upcoming Carroll Event for Craig Wolf, Republican candidate for Attorney General against Brian Frosh:

Join Delegates Krebs, Rose and Shoemaker and I for a special fundraiser at the home of David & Kellie Patton with Republican candidate for Attorney General, Craig Wolf who is taking on incumbent Attorney General Brian Frosh. This is a race that is winnable, even in blue Maryland because of the lack of focus that Attorney General Frosh has paid to issues affecting Marylanders versus constantly playing D.C. politics, suing the President and federal government.

This event will raise much-needed funds for Craig's campaign. If you don't know much about Craig Wolf - please take a moment to check out his resume and record of service and accomplishment. He's a former prosecutor, staffed the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and took lead role in legislation cracking down on child predators and abusers. He's an active member of the Army Rangers, joining the Army after 9/11 at age 40! His diverse public service and business experience makes him an ideal choice for Attorney General.

For tickets and information, click here. I hope you can join Craig, and my District 5 teammates and I on September 18th in Finksburg!

Interested in Helping Team Hogan in the Fall Campaign?

As we gear up for the general election, it is important that we get as many volunteers involved as possible. Team Hogan had a great network of support for the primary election and we hope to get even more help for the General Election. If you are interested in helping Governor Hogan, myself, and Delegates Krebs, Rose, and Shoemaker in the campaign, please contact Andy Baranauskas at 443-605-4389 or [email protected].

We could definitely use your help as we engage in door-to-door voter contact, sign placement, and put together events. In addition, if you know any politically active college students, there is a great way for them to get school credit through the Hogan Student Fellowship - just contact [email protected].

Also - we are nearly half way to our campaign goal of raising 70 more donations by the end of August. If you'd like to help my campaign hit this important goal for voter contact and engagement you can click here to make a contribution of any size. All over Maryland, campaigns like ours are in toss-up elections. Your support now can give us the tools we need to run a winning campaign in the Fall.

Any amount (even $5 or $10), counts toward our goal and is a huge help!

Thank you for your help!
