No to Sanctuary Counties

I was disgusted this week to hear another story of an illegal immigrant who should have been deported (he had a final deportation order going back a couple of years) committing a heinous, evil act – story here. I plan to introduce legislation next Session with some of my colleagues to end the practice of Sanctuary counties in Maryland.

Community Showing of Heroin Still Kills

Public Hearing - Solar Generating Facility in Carroll County

The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a second public comment hearing on the application of Citizens UB Solar, LLC to build a solar generating facility in Carroll County, Maryland and the Town of Union Bridge. The hearing will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Union Bridge Fire Company, 8 W. Locust Street in Union Bridge. 

Members of the public who wish to comment on the proposal are welcome to attend the hearing before Chief Public Utility Law Judge Ryan C. McLean. Written comments may be submitted by August 20, 2019 using the Commission’s public comments electronic filing system, instructions for which can be found at

August 17th – Last Day to Shop/Back to School Shopping - Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week

The Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week for 2019 is August 11-17th. Qualifying apparel and footwear $100 or less, per item, are exempt from the state sales tax. The first $40 of a backpack or bookbag is also tax-free.
