I have some exciting news to share with you about some improvements being made to local parks and playgrounds. Additionally, I want to alert you to two traffic projects that may affect the flow of traffic - one in the Taylorsville area and one in the town of Hampstead.
Hampstead Elementary Opens New Playground
On Friday, I was honored to attend the ribbon cutting for Hampstead Elementary School’s new inclusive playground, which was designed to allow children of all abilities and developmental stages to play together. Thankfully, the District 5 team, including Delegates Krebs, Rose and Shoemaker and I were able to obtain $50,000 toward this project during the last legislative session. I want to thank the Hampstead Elementary Playground Committee for their dedication to the Hampstead community, and congratulate them on their hard-work paying off.
BMW for Board of Education General Election Campaign Kickoff
Join Tara Battaglia, Jim Miller and Steve Whistler (and me!) on Sunday September 11, from 1pm-4pm at the Greene Turtle in Westminster for their slate’s Campaign Kickoff. Support the conservative slate for Carroll County Board of Education, all while watching the Ravens kickoff the 2022-23 NFL season. I support the BMW team 100%, as they are the common sense, pro-local control candidates running for the three BOE seats. Battaglia, Miller & Whisler will keep the focus of our school system on academic achievement in the classroom and away from political indoctrination. You can find more information on their campaign kickoff event by clicking here.

Wakefield Valley Park, Westminster - $1,000,000 from the Department of Natural Resources Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure program which will fund full project design and construction of approximately eight miles of multiuse trails, pedestrian bridges, a disc golf course and associated site amenities.
MD 88 Traffic Alert from MDOT
MDOT SHA will improve the driving surface and enhance safety on MD 88 (Lower Beckleysville Rd/Black Rock Road) between MD 30 Business (Main Street) and the Baltimore County line. The project will remove the top layer of the roadway, repair depressions to smooth out the road surface and add a new layer of asphalt across more than one mile of roadway. Work to begin Monday, August 29, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The project is expected to take four to six weeks to complete.
Additionally, Sam’s Creek Road @ Buffalo Road will be closed from 7:00am – 5:00pm beginning August 29 – September 2, 2022, for pipe and headwall replacement. This project should take much less time than the MD 88 project mentioned above.
