Yesterday, the Maryland General Assembly convened for a Special Session specifically to address Congressional Redistricting.  Also on the agenda were overrides for bills that Governor Hogan vetoed at the end of last Session.  Here is my video update from yesterday.  After this video was made the House Rules and Executive Nominations Committee voted in favor of the Legislative Redistricting Commission’s map along party lines.  They did this despite hearing from numerous witnesses that testified in support of the non-partisan Citizen’s Redistricting Committee map.  The next step is a sponsor only Senate Hearing where you can expect the same vote.

After the Democrats pass this version of the map in both Houses, the bill will move to the Governor where we expect a veto.  If vetoed, the legislature will then meet to consider an override of the veto before adjourning.
