Good News: Tax Relief and Funding for Carroll Infrastructure
For several years, I and many of my Republican colleagues, along with Governor Hogan have been trying to eliminate the tax on retirement income in the State of Maryland. This week the Senate and House of Delegates didn't go all the way there but did pass some significant tax relief in that area as well as changes to the sales tax to exempt more products. It ends up being about $1.8 Billion in annual tax relief. Abortion Legislative Update
On Tuesday, over my "NO" vote and strong objection (which I'll outline below) the Senate passed HB 937/SB890 (SB890 was passed last night), the so-called "Abortion Care" Access Act, sending it to Governor Hogan's desk. I am hopeful that Governor Hogan will veto this legislation - he has to make a decision within 6 days. If he does, the bill would come back to us for a possible veto override.
