After a long day of working the polls Tuesday, and an intense primary campaign for several months, I want to thank District 5 voters for their support for me and for the team I supported for House of Delegates, April Rose and Chris Tomlinson who both came out on top. I also want to congratulate Haven Shoemaker on winning the race for Carroll County State’s Attorney.

The third Delegate spot in District 5 remains too close to call - at this time only a few votes separate Eric Bouchat and Sallie Taylor. They are both great candidates and committed conservatives. I look forward to working with whichever of them comes out on top. There are approximately 2400 mail-in/absentee Republican ballots in District 5, most of which are being counted today, then the rest will be counted on July 29th along with provisionals. So it may be awhile before we know for sure, along with a couple of other local races.

I also want to congratulate Dan Cox on his victory in the Governor’s race to become our Republican nominee. I promised to support the winner of the primary and as we move forward together into the general election campaign the choice is very clear - we cannot have a liberal Democrat super-majority in charge in Annapolis with unchecked power.

Maryland Democrats will raise taxes and double down on the failed Biden agenda of inflation and unsafe communities. Maryland Republicans want to reduce the cost of living for working families and retirees - including eliminating automatic gas tax hikes - and get serious about stopping crime and supporting law enforcement.

As far as other races, I'll do a more full breakdown in my next email as the dust further settles. We're going to have some very interesting opportunities in Carroll County and around Maryland for real change and reform.

Between the statewide concerns, supporting our Congressional nominees like Nicolee Ambrose (CD2) and Yuripzy Morgan (CD3) and our need to elect common sense and practical Board of Education members like Tara Battaglia, Jim Miller & Steve Whisler, we have so much to come together and fight for. On to November!
