With Strong, Conservative Record, District 5 Legislators File for Re-Election
Senator Justin Ready, Delegate April Rose & Delegate Chris Tomlinson will run as a team

Westminster, MD – Senator Justin Ready, Delegate April Rose and Delegate Chris Tomlinson, three of the four Republican state legislators representing District 5, filed this week for re-election in 2026. District 5 includes a large portion of Carroll County – including Eldersburg, Manchester, Mount Airy, New Windsor, Sykesville, Taneytown, Union Bridge & Westminster, and the parts of the town of Mount Airy that are in Frederick County. Senator Ready and Delegates Rose & Tomlinson respectfully ask for voters’ support for re-election in 2026.

“It is an incredible honor to represent our community and be a bold conservative voice in Annapolis,” said Senator Justin Ready. “Maryland is at a major crossroad. We must turn back from Governor Moore and the Democratic Supermajority’s tax-and-spend policies that raise our cost of living and hurt working families. April Rose and Chris Tomlinson have been great partners as we’ve stood up for our values while also working to get things done for the communities we represent.”

“I’m thankful to have the opportunity to serve Carroll and Southeast Frederick County families, job creators and retirees,” Delegate April Rose said. “As an experienced professional in hiring in my private career, I’m proud to be leading the fight for a rational energy policy to get costs back down, reducing unneeded, burdensome regulations on small businesses and support education reforms that promote career and technical skill opportunities. Chris Tomlinson, Justin Ready and I work together as a team and we want to continue fighting for real change in Maryland.”

“Serving on the House Judiciary Committee, I fight back everyday against bills introduced by Democrats that are overwhelmingly pro-criminal and anti-victim,” said Delegate Chris Tomlinson. “On my committee, I am aggressively battling to end the opioid epidemic, pass legislation that will lock up criminals who are the worst of the worst, and reduce juvenile crime that has gotten completely out of control. Justin Ready, April Rose, & I are committed to passing tough-on-crime laws that will lock up those who wish to harm our communities.”

Senator Justin Ready serves as Minority Whip, the #2 Republican leadership position in the Senate and is a member of the Senate Finance Committee. He lives in Manchester with his wife Ruth and their two children, Brooklyn and Caleb.

Delegate April Rose serves as Assistant Minority Leader, the #3 Republican leadership position in the House of Delegates and is a member of the House Economic Matters Committee. She and her husband Mike live in Westminster and she has four adult children.

Delegate Chris Tomlinson is the Chair of the Carroll County Delegation and serves on the House Judiciary Committee. He and his wife Molly reside in Melrose with their daughter Abigail.

The 2026 Republican primary will be held Tuesday, June 23rd and the General Election is on Tuesday, November 3rd. Voters will elect one (1) State Senator and three (3) State Delegates to represent District 5.
